Sleep - The Secret Half of Life

  • Taruna College 33 Te Mata Peak Road Havelock North, Hawke's Bay Region, 4294 New Zealand (map)

Public Lecture

Sleep is one of the most powerful natural processes supporting healing and renewal in the human body. During sleep, the brain reorganises information and strengthens memory and learning. At the same time, the immune system becomes more active and repairs cellular damage.

Hormones regulating metabolism, growth, and stress are carefully balanced during the night. Deep sleep allows the nervous system to recover from the demands of the day.The brain also clears metabolic waste products through its nightly cleansing processes. Healthy sleep supports emotional stability and psychological resilience. It reconnects us with our spiritual sources. Insufficient sleep, by contrast, increases the risk of chronic illness, depression, and cardiovascular disease. When sleep becomes regular and restorative, many aspects of health improve naturally. In this way, sleep can be understood as one of the most fundamental medicines available to every human being.
